EDS gives soldier the shaft.

Today I was notified of a good friend of mine who is on his way to Iraq. Recently his company, EDS, gave him the shaft by not paying his vacation time. EDS released this person to another company and EDS waited until the last minute to force his resignation. Over two weeks of vacation time was lost, and now he’s on his way to Iraq in a few weeks. As soon as EDS received a copy of my friends’ orders they expedited his movement to the new company. My friend also informed me that emails were sent to EDS asking what was going to happen to his vacation. EDS kept saying “We’ll get back to you” when finally with two days to go they said “We will not pay for any unused vacation.”.
EDS should be ashamed at what they are doing, especially to soldiers going overseas. If the founder of EDS was still working there, this would have never happened.
Below are some othe responses about EDS:
A word from someone at the great EDS, This company SUCKS, To get a sorry check from them I am putting in 20 hours a week of overtime, 10 hour days 6 days a week, doing support for a major Airline. And they pretty much treat you like you owe them for giving you a job with them. If 1 department fails we all get in trouble. We have people walking out the door during shifts, never to return, therefor we have to pick up the slack and are getting more resposibilites added on to are jobs, cause there to cheap to hire anyone. One person that I work with is about to file bankruptcy, while living off her credit cards for the last couple of months. Beware of the Great EDS
Layoffs occur every week within EDS. You never know when you walk into the cube if you will be in the next group to be “severed”. EDS expects you to put in 24/7/365, no compensation, no off time, no vacation, work yourself to death following processes that prevent you from doing your real work and one day you walk in without warning and you’ve been “severed” from EDS due to reduction in force. I can’t beleive there are jobs posted for EDS when they are laying off every week. One of the jobs posted here is the very job I was laid off. How can they do that? EDS has absolutely no business ethics.
This company is horrendous. I am in the same situation as SJ in Hoover, AL. After over 10 years of employment with them putting in OT every week, I walked in one day and was shown to the door shortly thereafter due to a RIF. Do not pass go, collect your coat, anything… and never allowed to even enter the lobby again. The decision to let me go was made by an exec who I had spoken with twice in my career, even though my manager had recently told me during my performance review that I was the brightest employee in the department.
EDS is so coldhearted; count your blessings that you weren’t called in for an interview… you might have had the misfortune of actually getting hired!
I worked for EDS for a year and a half. I worked from home however I am hear to tell you it was a NIGHTMARE!
